Director

Albert J. Lafferty is our newest board member and a graduate from the public and business administration diploma program at Aurora College.

He has also received municipal administration accreditation from St. Lawrence College in Kingston, Ont.

He has held a long career in municipal administration and management at the community level. Mr. Lafferty is the recipient of the Norm McLeod Award - awarded to those who show outstanding proficiency in municipal administration. Recipients of this award are honoured by their colleagues who are professional members in the local government administration.

Mr. Lafferty continues to serve as part of the executive/administration at the Fort Providence Metis Council. His involvement at the regional level has contributed to the Dehcho First Nations' land negotiations and self-government process with Canada. He also continues to be an advocate of the Mackenzie River Bridge Project, a local First Nations and Fort Providence Metis initiative to build a bridge across the Dehcho/Mackenzie River at Fort Providence.

Through his committee work and board appointments, Mr. Lafferty remains active at the community, regional and territorial levels by striving to build partnerships on economic development initiatives between local indigenous Metis, First Nations and industry in the Northwest Territories.
